Consumer Class Action Defense

Sofia focuses on consumer class action defense with a particular expertise in telecommunications, fraud, false advertising, data privacy, data breach, marketing, and technology. A lauded advocate Sofia often secures favorable rulings on behalf of the firm's clients in jurisdictions across the nation. She is also a strategic and creative thinker who is sought after for her commonsense and ability to resolve disputes efficiently. 

Complex Litigation

Sofia also specializes in securities litigation, shareholder suits, insurance disputes, government investigations, white-collar crime, and complex commercial litigation in both state and federal courts nationwide.

Compliance

She has deep understanding of the intricacies of the GDPR, the CCPA, the CCPRA, state privacy laws, HIPAA and state law equivalents; the BIPA, cybersecurity regulations, and the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, the Stored Communications Act, and state law equivalents (including wiretap statutes). She routinely advises clients on e-commerce data handling and disclosure practices, data privacy and compliance.

Pro Bono

In addition to her litigation practice, Sofia is dedicated to pro bono work. She provides legal representation to asylum seekers and survivors of human trafficking, focusing on criminal matters and post-conviction relief. Sofia collaborates with survivor-led coalitions and has contributed to legislative efforts, including assisting in drafting bills and testifying before the Massachusetts’s Joint Committee on the Judiciary in favor of these bills.

Valedictorian

While earning her Master of Legal Studies degree, she interned at the Pima County Public Defender’s Office and served as a Congressional Intern to Congressman Raul M. Grijalva. Sofia also gained invaluable experience as a judicial intern for the Honorable Scott L. Kafker of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and the Honorable Page Kelley, now Chief Magistrate Judge of the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts. She also held several legal internships, including positions at the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, where she assisted with discovery requests, drafted motions, and appeared in civil and criminal proceedings under the supervision of senior attorneys. At Kids in Need of Legal Defense (KIND), Sofia supported the representation of unaccompanied migrant children. Her experience also includes legal internships in the White Collar Division of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office and the Volunteer Lawyers Project.

Sofia graduated first in her class from New England Law, where she served as the Online Editor of the New England Law Review.
