Selen represents companies in consumer class actions and other high-stakes civil litigation, with an emphasis on consumer protection, unfair competition, and false-advertising matters. She also advises and defends clients facing investigations and enforcement proceedings brought by the Federal Trade Commission, Federal Communications Commission, and other federal and state regulatory agencies.
Compliance & Policy Advice
Selen’s practice includes counseling clients on marketing and advertising compliance and the consumer, technology, and privacy laws that affect their businesses. She helps companies develop practical, business-focused compliance strategies that manage legal risk while supporting commercial objectives. Her work includes monitoring legal and regulatory developments nationwide, conducting compliance audits, and training business teams to navigate an evolving consumer-protection, technology, and privacy landscape.
Before joining Briones PC, Selen served as a Research Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School and as Associate Director and Senior Research Officer at Columbia University’s Justice Lab. In those roles, she advised on matters involving international criminal law, as well as policy and justice-system reform affecting young adults.
